Happy Australia Day

I hope you all had a wonderful Australia Day where ever you are in the world. I was up at 6am donning thongs, gold hoops and a very Australian dress.

I thought of my London students when I was filming this too. There were so many Pink and Grey Galas flying about, Claire & Helene I remember Carolyn and I trying to explain what they looked like. Now you can see them!

Enjoy x

Leg and Chest Hooping 1-2pm

If you've always been amazed by the way professional hoopers are able to bring that hoop up their body as if by magic then this is the class for you.

We don't mean to burst your bubble but it's not actually magic and we can teach you how to do this amazing move. It does take practice but with the right technique and our teachers on hand to trouble shoot you'll me mesmerising people with your hoop skills in no time.

Vortex 2.15-3.15pm

Being able to take the hoop on and off your body with ease looks allows you to move more easily into other tricks and makes hooping that much more enjoyable. There is something very relaxing about this move however learning it can be anything but relaxing.

We have broken down this move into easy steps so that even if you have never hooped before you've still got a chance to master it with in the hour.

HoopCircuits 3.45-4.30pm

HoopCircuits is a fast paced class designed to give you an intensive full body workout whilst having fun. In a HoopCircuit class you will use all the major muscle groups, improving your coordination and flexibility.

We start off the class by breaking down waist hooping and warming up the muscles before we get into the serious stuff. The class is designed to get you hot and sweaty, by keeping the moves simple you can work our harder and faster. If you've never been able to hoop before don't worry our weighted hoops make it a lot easier and you will be able to work at your own pace.

Throughout the class there are lots of jumping, squats, lunges and balance, working your whole body. Even if you can’t keep the hoop spinning on your waist, in HoopCircuits you will learn a variety of techniques to get the best workout from the hoop.

Finding an Inspiring Space

This week I have been working from Spacecubed. It's this amazing co-working space built for entrepreneurs and honestly just being here surrounded by other people who are following their passion has been inspirational.

This morning I listened to a presentation by Simply Wall St and then I sat down with Ranjeev and discussed his various business ventures which ranged from stock photos to health supplements.

And I don't know who left this note or if I was the intended recipient but seriously how great are they.

What does this have to do with hooping? I guess not a lot but have you thought about your hoop environment the same way you think about your work environment?

Do you like it quiet, do you like it loud?
Do you want to be alone or do you want an audience?
Are you looking for a team or would you prefer to be on your own?

I've hooped in hundreds of different environments. On a stage shaped like a ship in front of thousand, in my backyard quietly on my own. At the beach, in the park, on my coffee table, in a mirrored dance studio, in front of the TV. With friends, with family, with strangers. In my bedroom with the music on full! With my amazing students at HoopFit of course.

They all make me feel different and some work for certain moods and not others. But what's your inspiring space?

Finding a New Years Resolution

Last years resolution was to 'Bite off way more than you can chew, then chew away!' This is the post I wrote about it last year here. Think I actually thought about that quote at least once a week for the entire year, it was perfect for 2014.

'Bite off way more than you can chew, then chew away!'

I honestly don't know how I could possible top the past 2 years. 2013 was transformational, I discovered hooping, performing, myself. 2014 was all about cementing those themes in my life, becoming a strong business woman too.

2015 honestly stresses me out. My goals are bigger than they have ever been in my entire life and unlike Uni or CIMA, there are no guidelines. No one is going to tell me what comes first, what to study, when the assignments are due. I'm on my own, I have to have discipline to do the important things, not just the fun things. And to have vision.... Actually maybe that is it. I need vision and discipline.

2015 is going to be a big year, I know it is. I'm honestly expecting to work harder than I ever have before. I'm prepared for it, the last 2 years have given me more confidence in myself that any other time in my life.

I know goals are meant to be specific and measure able but those kinds of new years resolutions have never worked for me. I like it to be more of a mission statement, something inspirational that I can use to motivate myself in almost any situation so 'Have Vision. Have Discipline' That's my 2015 resolution.

'Have Vision. Have Discipline.'
